Combating Double Standards Starts With Our Own Children with @Kaeyofficial

Good morning everyone from New York! It’s been such a wild two weeks for us at the LECHERY studio! We have been working our butts off with our new line of hosiery, so if you haven’t gotten a pair of LECHERY hosiery yet, well, do so now, especially since it is tights season! :)

With that said, today we have a new interview featuring Kaey @KaeyOfficial from the U.K. Kaey is a professional singer, artist, and musician. During her spare time, Kaey enjoys expanding her creativity through the arts by painting and doing graphic design. Her talent is exceptional and  her voice is euphonious; she is a woman that encompasses nothing but passion and power.

We stumbled upon Kaey way back in August after discovering her aptitude in music and the arts. There was one particular photo of Kaey in a lace bodysuit taken by the talented @tifri_photography that we absolutely loved that we even featured her in our article: Why Bodysuits Are Now the Must Have Item This Summer! This is when we realized that Kaey had a side to her that wasn’t super obvious at the time, her passion for lingerie. LECHERY reached out to do an interview with her.

In this interview with Kaey, she discusses lingerie and how she first got into them. She describes that, “I felt great posing in what was basically my underwear,” why lingerie is more of an intimate thing for her and how that has changed because of wearing them more often outdoors, and how the children of the future are the catalyst for change when it comes to destroying double standards in our society.

Interview with the exceptionally talented @Kaeyofficial

LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?

KAEY: I am an artist. My main focus is music. I write all my songs and I can't wait to get back to performing. I do a little bit of painting and graphic design on the side, but I'm definitely a musician first.

LECHERY: We see that you're into hosiery and lingerie, what got you into posting hosiery and lingerie? Tell us more about it.

KAEY: I was actually at a music video shoot and that was my outfit. I've never been that exposed in front of anyone other than my previous partners before that point, but everyone was so encouraging and honestly, I felt great posing in what was basically my underwear - it was kinda fun! SO I posted and there was a great response!

LECHERY: What does lingerie mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing lingerie?

KAEY: Lingerie was more of an intimate thing for me. But I've been trying to break that boundary by wearing lingerie outdoors, so I'd pair a bodysuit from the intimates section with some jeans or something on a night out. I'm always a little self conscious at first, but after a little while I get my confidence and it can be really empowering. Don't get me wrong though, the added sex appeal doesn't hurt ahaha.

LECHERY: What is the perfect pair of hosiery for you? Or lingerie, if you don't wear hosiery.

KAEY: I don't generally wear hosiery. There's a few pairs I picked up to go with some sets from Ann Summers but they don't leave the bedroom. If I'm going out though, there is this lovely black lace bodysuit from H&M that I absolutely adore. It's lightweight, it covers enough and It keeps everything in place. I love it.

LECHERY: As wearing hosiery and lingerie can be seen by the wider-community to be vulgar, how do you react to the negativity?

KAEY: I generally just ignore it. Or laugh it off. Because the nasty comments are usually coming from girls wearing dresses that just about cover themselves, or older women who almost definitely wore similar stuff back in the day. The way I see it is as long as my tits aren't completely on show, then there isn't really a problem.

LECHERY: We live in a very double standard society, when a man is topless, it is normalized and accepted, but for a woman, she’s hypersexualized and stigmatized. As women, how do you think we should combat this?

KAEY: I think the only way to combat double standards is to take that idea away when we're raising our own children. The kids are the future, and the way they're brought up will affect the way women and men interact in the future. If we teach kids that sexualising both women and men (because we sexualise men a lot in this society as well) is wrong then they should be a lot more accepting in the future.

LECHERY: What do you hope to find in the hosiery and lingerie industry in the future?

KAEY: I honestly just want more affordable, sexy lingerie for women who have slightly larger breasts than others. Don't get me wrong we have some incredible companies, but I want to look sexy and I find that there's still a lot of companies who think bigger means more coverage, thicker, more plain materials, when bigger just means a little extra support you know? I'm an E cup, and I really struggle sometimes when I'm looking for lingerie.

LECHERY: What is one thing you would always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy? What is your advice to other women who struggle with confidence and body-image?

KAEY: I think it's not in the clothes. Honestly, when I want to feel sexy, I wear my Charlotte Tilbury perfume and whatever clothes I put on my body just kind of come together in this sexy ensemble. I have a ring I was given a while ago by someone who really means a lot to me and since the day I got it, I've never taken it off. That kind of boosts my confidence too I guess, I don't feel right without it. I think if you're struggling with confidence, you need to first try and understand where the struggle comes from. Understanding yourself will make you more confident and with confidence comes sexiness. And stop putting off trying new things! Buy that anklet! Wear that top that everyone says is "too cropped for someone like you" and wear it like a fucking boss. Life is too short to not do what you want to do - or not wear what you want to wear. And if you're struggling with body-image, please stop taking fashion advice from people who don't have your body type, they'll almost never know what they're talking about. If you're a plus size girl, listen to other plus size guys and girls. If you're more pear than hourglass, stop looking at the Kardashians. Wear clothes that feel right on you. Just because someone said it's wrong, doesn't make it true.

LECHERY: Describe lingerie to you in three words:

KAEY: Lingerie to me is, sexy, empowering, body armour

LECHERY: It is a really tough time in today's world with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy and healthy?

KAEY: I've had a real struggle recently. I was really about my health at the beginning of lockdown but I think I overdid it because I've been neglecting my health and wellbeing recently. I've been slowly getting back into routine, making sure that everytime I go to get a snack, I'm picking up fruit either instead of or as well as a not-so-healthy snack. I've been making music and painting to keep myself busy, and releasing a lot more music too. I just dropped my latest single "dRunk" on all platforms so if you get a chance, definitely check that out.
