Good day everyone! How are we all doing today? Hope everyone is having a great start to their week so far! Today, we have an interview with someone who you may know, and if you don’t, well, you certainly are still new in our community of hosiery/lingerie lovers: Soni Panda (@SoniPanda). For those who do not know or haven’t come across Soni, she is what we would describe as THE Pioneer of Hosiery Reviews. She is a person with phenomenal style who incorporates hosiery to her daily outfits, a fashion blogger with a little twist, a foodie on the side, and an inspiring and empowering woman above all who is motivated to help and support individuals (man or woman regardless of gender and sexuality) about their style and self-confidence.
Soni, for the longest of time, has had a huge passion for hosiery and heels ever since she was a teenager. Even though it may seem like she has it all - confidence, beauty, and great taste in fashion - Soni had her fair share of insecurities growing up. Growing up, she describes that she used to hate her legs and was never a “fan” of them. However, after discovering the wonders hosiery was able to do for herself - style and confidence - Soni’s passion and love for hosiery grew. To this day, she continues to do what she loves doing as a hobby which is to wear hosiery and educate people about them alongside reviewing heels, and posting content related to fashion and food.
Soni has graced our presence way before we even started LECHERY (as we do share the same passion for hosiery) through her hosiery content, her graceful and laid-back but also occasional tom-boyish sense of style, and her delicious food posts. There was really no way we could not reach out and do an interview with her to further educate you about what hosiery can be apart from what people may perceive them: a fetish.
As we continue to be motivated in deconstructing stigmas of women who wear lingerie and hosiery with a passion, in this interview, Soni discusses her very same purpose of destigmatizing hosiery, how she first embarked this journey of wearing hosiery, the basic type of hosiery you ladies need (and if men are reading this, you too - if you choose to), her hopes for the future of hosiery, and some 101 on how to pick the right pair of nylons. If you want to learn more about the beautiful and sensual world of hosiery, then keep on reading!
Interview with the stunning, sweet, and gorgeous hosiery/heels blogger @SoniPanda
LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?
SONI: Anytime my loves – I am super excited to have this opportunity! So to simply put it, I’m a fashion blogger with a little twist; I incorporate hosiery of all types and styles into my outfits. This isn’t something I do full-time as much as I would like it to be, but has been a HUGE passion of mine since I was around 16.
My main purpose for what I do is that I want to get rid of the stigma that hosiery is for the bedroom only. I despise it when people think my private life must be awesome by the stuff I would wear in the bedroom. I do this because I want people to know it is ok to wear stockings to work or incorporate it into your everyday life; to make yourself feel sexy and luxurious. The same goes for holdups, tights, and really great heels too. It’s about fashion to me, it’s about owning you and your style. It’s not about what anyone else thinks; only you and your body matter here, so why not feel great as well as look great.
LECHERY: We see that you're into hosiery and heels, what got you into posting hosiery and heels? Tell us more about it.
SONI: Now this section I will ramble on a lot as there is so much behind this for me.
I used to wear hosiery when I was younger because I had to cover my legs. Being from an Indian background, it was seen as negative to have bare legs and the only way I was allowed to wear dresses or skirts was if I covered my legs. This is where I started to experiment with different types; patterned, plain, sheer, opaque etc. I took it to the next step and started getting into holdups and stockings. You will rarely catch me in jeans or trousers, and even then I will always have some sort of hosiery to pair up underneath.
Not a lot of people know this (only the ones who have read my Q&A) is that I used to hate my legs as a teenager, and using hosiery was a way of covering them and still looking stylish. I know it sounds mad but yep, I was not a fan. I also said that I was into patterned before I even touched sheer tights; I was the total opposite!
The heels have come ever since I was a teenager; I always was in a pair of heels whether it was a small kitten heel or some stiletto. I love my shoes with a passion; and that is something that just continues to grow with or without hosiery (it will always be with *wink*)
The best part about it all is the amount of people I get to help and support; I have women and men both contact me to change their style, gain confidence, etc. and this is one way I get to help them is by their clothing. People underestimate a good outfit, especially with hosiery and a great pair of heels involved.
LECHERY: What does hosiery mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing hosiery?
SONI: So hosiery means expression of personality, expression of sexuality, expression to just own yourself. This isn’t a fetish or anything of the sort for me; I wear it because it helps create outfits with a vibe. I dress how I feel on the day, and my outfits and hosiery choice reflects that too. I don’t just have one style like a lot of women do; I can go from ultra-feminine to tom boy and there is nothing wrong with that.
In addition, yep it does make me feel good about myself; it makes me appreciate being a woman and yes I have the confidence to carry myself in such a manner. I love it when I am in a pair of good tights or a pair of luxury stockings and that naturally shows.
LECHERY: What is the perfect pair of hosiery for you? Is it fit? The comfort? The style? We're thrilled to hear what your thoughts are especially for someone like you who has worn a myriad of pairs at this point!
SONI: So there are a lot of factors involved in a good pair; the quality, the price, the smoothness, the way it looks and feels on the skin. I take everything into account when I buy a pair or get it sent from a company. I am so picky; I don’t just go for something that is cheap to buy but doesn’t last me 10 minutes. Quality and comfort is the main key and how it makes my legs look. This is why I try to go through as much detail in my blog posts as possible so people know that I’m not doing it just for the likes but to give you an unbiased review of what they’re really like and if they are worth it.
I know people who buy it for the sake of it being cheap or ‘looking good’ and then moan about how horrible they are; you picked cheap over quality instead of coming to me ☺
Oh trust me, I have over 2000 pairs and still growing to this day!
LECHERY: Have you ever had a negative experience with a pair of hosiery you have bought? If so, what happened? And what brands/places would you avoid buying from?
SONI: Oh yeah I have had my fair share over the years I have been doing this, and I would totally avoid the cheaper brands on eBay and Amazon that come from China. They are just mass produced and not even worth your money, even if it is dirt cheap.
I have also come across other well-known brands where their hosiery isn’t quite up to scratch, but over the past few years they have changed their game and now offer some great quality pieces.
LECHERY: What do you hope to find in the hosiery and shoe industry in the future?
SONI: I hope to find more hosiery for men; this is a huge thing that a lot of people have asked me about. I have had so many people; transgender, cross-dressers, etc. contact me about their thoughts and opinions on them wearing hosiery. I have always said you should be comfortable being who you are and fashion does play a part in that too. I know a few brands are now catering for that, but so many still don’t.
Another big point is eco-friendly hosiery. This is a huge movement a few big brands are jumping on, and rightly so. Fashion in all aspects should be environmentally friendly; I know not all brands are, but with what the world has been going through it’s something to certainly evaluate. I would happily spend more if I knew a pair was made from recycled materials than pieces that have caused a lot more waste. I know it’s something that will take time to implement, but I feel strongly about that.
LECHERY: What type of hosiery should every girl have in their closet?
SONI: So every person should have the following: A pair of good quality:
- Black sheer tights
- Nude sheer tights
- 1 x pair patterned tights
- 1 x holdups
- 1 x stockings
This would be the bare basics to a wardrobe. I state those as they can go such a long way. You don’t need to have hundreds and thousands if you’re not gonna be wearing them every day but these staples can easily be paired up without giving too much thought into an outfit (like I normally would) – and make sure they are a good quality pair; invest in some good brands and these can last you a very long time.
LECHERY: What pair of hosiery would you always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy?
SONI: Hmm… I would say a pair of holdups for sure. This is the perfect balance between stockings and tights; you get the best of both worlds here. You don’t have the gusset and waistband of the tights, and you don’t need a suspender belt to keep them up. These are perfect to wear every day under any outfit you choose.
LECHERY: Describe hosiery to you in three words:
LECHERY: Bonus question: It is a really tough time in today's world with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy and healthy?
SONI: So I have been spending much more time getting blogs and video reviews done as I finally have the chance to get more done without work or other commitments getting in the way.
On the contrary, I have also been spending more time staying away from social media and reconnecting with myself again; getting back into fitness, reading, cooking, meditation, and just being able to do what I feel like. In a time like this, it really makes you think about what life was like and how you have the ability to change it to what you want it to be. You go from stress, anxiety and everyday worries to calm, chill and peace, so it’s nice to be able to have that time to step back and really think about life. Deep I know, but that’s something a lot of people don’t know about me!
