Good morning those who live in the U.S. and good afternoon/evening to the rest of the world! We have finally launched our hosiery line on www.LECHERYBRAND.com, we can’t believe that we have been working on this for more than half of the year and we just revealed them to you last week! Thank you to all of those who have supported us, it truly means a lot to us as a start-up!

With that said, let’s shift our focus on our interview feature of the day with a brilliant woman by the name of Britt van Schie @Brittvschie. Britt comes all the way from the Netherlands. She is a professional singer who specializes in Musical Theatre. She studied at the Conservatory of Rotterdam in which she decided to then work in Musical Theatre Productions on a German Cruiseship as a freelancer doing mini performances. Britt is not only a performer but she is also a vocal coach (so ladies, if you need some voice lessons, hit Britt up! ;)) Britt also does event organizing!

Britt graced our presence on Instagram when we discovered her on our Explore Page. We immediately fell in love with this woman’s feed after seeing the authentic content she puts out to her followers. We also were able to encounter the many inspiring posts she has on her feed where she talks a lot about her body-image/body-positivity and this is one we wanted to highlight with her when we first approached her.

Aside from the virtuosic skills she has in the music and the arts, this magnificently talented woman has endured her own fair share of struggles when it comes to her body-image and body-confidence.

In this interview with Britt, she shares with us how as a performer, when she would get up on stage, she would feel awkward, not having much luck with men, and having to undergo breast reduction surgery because she felt insecure about them. Despite all the challenges that Britt has endured throughout her life, she was able to find herself, shed light on body-positivity, and change her mindset that she can feel and be sexy, fit and happy without having to be skinny. She is an amazing example of a true LECHERY warrior!

To learn more about her fascinating and inspiring story, keep on reading!

Interview with the talented and stunning singer @Brittvschie

LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?

BRITT: Hi! I'm so happy you asked me to do this! My name is Britt van Schie, I'm 25 years old and I'm from a little country in Europe called the Netherlands ;) I'm a professional singer, mostly specified in Musical Theatre. I studied at the Conservatory of Rotterdam and after that worked in Musical Theatre Productions (or only one actually ;)), on a German Cruiseship and as a freelancer I do little performances in different genres. I'm also a vocal coach, so I help other people to train their voice, which I really enjoy. And occasionally I help people with organizing events.

LECHERY: We see that you're into hosiery and lingerie, what got you into posting hosiery and lingerie? Tell us more about it.

BRITT: I've always been very insecure about my body. In my puberty, I started growing very fast and eventually I started gaining weight. I've always been an active person, but I also always loved food a lot and so my weight has been fluctuating. I would never define my body as pretty and I think I've never called myself sexy. With me being on stage, I struggled with not feeling the sensuality of my body. I've mostly felt awkward, didn't have much luck with the guys and always found myself too fat to be a sexy woman. Half a year ago, I posted a bikini picture on my social media, mostly to convince myself I could be pretty and happy and fit without being skinny. And since then, I've felt so good about my body. And I hope to inspire people, mostly women of my generation, to accept their bodies. Being skinny is not the same as being healthy, as being sexy and definitely not as being happy. And we should celebrate our differences and every beautiful thing our body can do, instead of all trying to live up to the same body image.

LECHERY: What does lingerie mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing lingerie?

BRITT: I've always worn underwear that was comfortable. When I was 20, I had a breast reduction surgery. I had (Dutch) size F, which I think is DDD in the USA. And even though I'm a very tall woman and nobody really noticed my breast, I was very insecure. Not only did they bother me physically, mostly mentally they felt like they never really belonged to me. I rather wanted to hide them, then show them off. And I had the biggest trouble buying bras, which made it a very unpleasant experience for me.

The fact that I now feel much more comfortable with my body and breasts, is a big win for me. I'm really enjoying wearing cute lace lingerie and I'm so happy to finally be able to celebrate my body. I do lots of happy dances in my underwear now.

LECHERY: What is the perfect pair of hosiery for you?

BRITT: I really love lace, but I've never really been into a big push-up bra. I still want my underwear to be comfortable, because I really wear it for me and not for any man. I'll always go for a nice triangle lace bra that still supports my breasts and a matching bottom. I'm personally in love with the Spanish brand Oysho! www.oysho.com

LECHERY: As wearing hosiery and lingerie can be seen by the wider-community to be vulgar, how do you react to the negativity?

BRITT: On the one hand, I get it. Mostly because I was always very uncomfortable with "being sexy" and don't need to share my bedroom life with everyone. But I think now that we should never be ashamed of our bodies and feeling sexy is a beautiful thing. I think it's very powerful if a woman is able to share her sensuality with others and hopefully inspire them to feel more comfortable about their bodies. Loving yourself is never a bad thing and we should not hide our bodies anymore.

LECHERY: We live in a very double standard society, when a man is topless, it is normalized and accepted, but for a woman, she’s hypersexualized and stigmatized. As women, how do you think we should combat this?

BRITT: Yes. I think a lot of men don't realize how much women get sexualized. How many comments we get while walking down the street. I think we should live in a society where we support each other, instead of judging each other. Where women can be powerful and independent, without always getting sexist comments when they dress sensual.

LECHERY: What do you hope to find in the hosiery and lingerie industry in the future?

BRITT: Lingerie for all shapes and sizes and that being normalized. Not only the super skinny models in the pictures showing the products, but all types of women.

LECHERY: What is one thing you would always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy? What is your advice to other women who struggle with confidence and body-image?

BRITT: Honestly a nice pair of lingerie always makes me feel good. But also a beautiful dress can make me feel like the most beautiful woman in the room. You don't always need to show a lot of skin, to be sexy. My advice for other women that struggle with body image is: Stop punishing yourself for not having your "dream body", you will never be satisfied. Of course, it's very important to take care of yourself, work out, be healthy, don't devour yourself. But also celebrate all the things that your body can do and the amazing human you are. Nobody judges how you look as much as you do and life will get so much easier and better if you start loving yourself a little bit. And you deserve love. You are beautiful and you are worthy!

LECHERY: Describe lingerie to you in three words:

BRITT: Sensuality, beauty and confidence.

LECHERY: It is a really tough time in today's world with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy and healthy?

BRITT: I've been working out a lot (almost every day), but I've also been drinking a lot of wine (definitely every day). For the rest, I try to fill my days with creative things. I've been recording a lot and I've started writing a book and a solo concert with my own songs. This time has really made me realize I want to do more things that make me happy, so I'm trying to arrange this for myself. And I'm spending lots of time with my family and friends, which is making me very happy.
