You may have already come across this woman if you’re into all things hosiery and lingerie related due to her catchy username: @TheLingeriePrincess. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this woman is truly The Lingerie Princess and she doesn’t have this username for no reason but because she practices what she preaches. Lucy, @TheLingeriePrincess, is a U.K. based blogger, social media, and bra fit expert. She is a woman you should all keep up with if you’re into knowing more about how to find the right fit when it comes to your bras.

Her blog, TheLingeriePrincess.com, is her refuge when wanting to showcase her adoration for lingerie. On her blog, you would be able to find the most detailed reviews on lingerie through the lens of a woman who has struggled in finding the right size that would accommodate those who have a small back and large cup. Not only that, but Lucy also reviews swimwear, so if you’re into swimwear and not sure where to purchase good pairs of swimwear, visit TheLingeriePrincess.com!

Lucy is always seen in amazing and intricately made lingerie. One of our favorite sets that she has worn was a purple set from @LoveHoneyLingerie. It featured beautiful lace details and embroidery paired with garters and stockings. This purple set on Lucy was absolutely breathtaking.

In this interview with Lucy, we discuss about her turbulent relationship with her body, how powerful a well-fitted bra can make her feel, how she combats negativity and stigmas associated with her field of work, how some societies in certain parts of Europe do not bat an eyelid against women who sunbathe topless, and the ridiculous censorship rules on social media that makes it harder for us women to normalize the use of lingerie and hosiery online.

Interview with the bra fitter and lingerie connoisseur/enthusiast @TheLingeriePrincess

LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: Thanks for having me! Aside from blogging about all things lingerie, my day job is working in social media and as a bra fit expert for a lingerie retailer. It's something I fell into by mistake but I couldn't imagine doing anything else!

LECHERY: We see that you're into hosiery and lingerie, what got you into posting hosiery and lingerie? Tell us more about it.

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: I've always had a pretty turbulent relationship with my body, ever since I can remember. As I started working in the lingerie industry it ignited a fire in me that I knew was always there simmering below the surface, but really took hold once I got thrown into it headfirst and realised how powerful a well-fitting bra can make you feel. My self confidence improved so much, and I wanted to document that journey which ended up taking the form of my blog and turning into what it is now!

LECHERY: What does lingerie mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing lingerie?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: Lingerie is my superpower. The right set makes me feel invincible and powerful, like I can take on the world and anything that comes my way. The comfy day to day sets make me feel like I'm wearing a hug all day, and the sexier three piece sets with stockings and suspenders really got me feeling myself! When I'm having a bad day, there's nothing better for me in terms of self care than putting on something that makes me feel amazing and just admiring myself in it. Primarily, I wear my lingerie, for me, to match my mood or give me that bit of a pep in my step. It's of course a bonus that I have a partner who appreciates it as much as I do (though maybe not so much the lack of space for storing it, so it's taking over the entire flat..!)

LECHERY: What is the perfect pair of hosiery for you?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: I love a simple black stocking with a plain top and a slim backseam. Sophisticated, chic and sexy, and matches almost everything! I can't resist a pair of fishnets though, either - they work a dream with the right sets!

LECHERY: As wearing hosiery and lingerie can be seen by the wider-community to be vulgar, how do you react to the negativity?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: It is usually like water off a duck's back to me - I just ignore it and move on most of the time. Sometimes if I'm having a bad day I'll lash back, but I try to just ignore it so as to not affect my mental health. I'm lucky to be surrounded by amazing people who support me in what I do, so it's few and far between that I do experience any negativity personally.

LECHERY:  We live in a very double standard society, when a man is topless, it is normalized and accepted, but for a woman, she’s hypersexualized and stigmatized. As women, how do you think we should combat this?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: I think we just need to normalise it like it has been normalised for men. The more we see topless females the more it becomes the norm, just look at some of the beaches in Europe - so many women there sunbathe topless and nobody bats an eyelid! Unfortunately with the ridiculous censorship rules on social media and the internet it makes it hard for us to normalise it.

LECHERY: What do you hope to find in the hosiery and lingerie industry in the future?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: On a personal level, I'd love to see more small back/large cup lingerie available. Small steps are being made, but it's still so hard to find well-fitting 28 back bras with FF+ cups, let alone smaller back sizes. I'm technically a 26GG but finding that size is near impossible, unless I've got the budget to get something bespoke made.

On a wider level I'd love to see more diversity. Some brands are getting it spot on, but others are really lacking. Not just on size/shape diversity, but age, ability, gender. I'd love to see more self-love orientated marketing, rather than appealing specifically to the male gaze. There's nothing wrong with wearing lingerie for men or to sexually please your partner, but I think that is what gives lingerie a bit of the stigma that it has.

LECHERY: What is one thing you would always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy? What is your advice to other women who struggle with confidence and body-image?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: First of all, my advice is get a bra fitting - a proper one with a reputable fitter who can fit by eye (no tape measures are needed)! The correct bra fit can make you feel so amazing about yourself so forget what the numbers and letters say, focus on the fit and how it makes you feel.

Any of my go-to bras that are perfectly fitted make me feel confident and I quite literally stand taller and straighter when I wear them. For sexiness, anything sheer or a suspender with stockings!

LECHERY: Describe lingerie to you in three words:

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: Empowerment, confidence, versatility

LECHERY: It is a really tough time in today's world with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy and healthy?

THE LINGERIE PRINCESS: I've been lucky enough to continue working from home full time, so that's been keeping me from going a little stir-crazy! As I'm not walking on my commute to the office anymore I'm trying to get out for walks when the weather is nice, and have started doing DDPYoga with my partner to keep my body moving. My mental health has been really rocky during this whole thing, but I've settled into a new routine quite nicely and am enjoying the 'new normal' - I've also been playing Animal Crossing a lot which is so therapeutic and great for unwinding, being able to immerse myself in this happy, virtual world and connect with friends from up and down the country has been great.
