Interview with the epitome of beauty and sexy @AshleyGiov:
LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?
ASHLEY: Thank you for having me! I am a writer and digital marketing manager. I write about sex, relationships, fashion—really anything that strikes my fancy—for online publications and my blog. I also create content and manage digital marketing for a variety of companies.
LECHERY: We see that you're into fashion and lingerie, what got you into posting fashion and lingerie? Is that your way of practicing self-care? Tell us more about it.
ASHLEY: I've been into lingerie since I was a little girl. I remember I got this silky leopard nightgown from Marshall's as a kid and my parents joked I would wear it on my honeymoon. I like to wear lingerie as outerwear too, mostly to justify spending so much $$$ on it when half the time I have nobody to show it to. It can definitely be a way of practicing self-love for me. There have been Valentine's Days where I've been single and bought myself some nice lingerie.
LECHERY: What does lingerie mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing lingerie?
ASHLEY: Lingerie is just so sexy to me. I know there are some people who just prefer women naked (unfortunately, I've dated some of them), but I love leaving a little to the imagination (even if it's very little). I think I look better in lingerie than I do in clothing half the time, and even if I'm alone or practicing self-love, I love getting dressed up in something sexy because I think it sets such a mood. It's really for me more than it is for my partners most of the time.
LECHERY: What is the perfect set of lingerie for you? And which brands would you recommend?
ASHLEY: I recently was lucky enough to get my hands on some Agent Provocateur, and although personally I don't think their designs are anything extraordinary compared to what's out there, the fit and fabric really is divine. I wore a full set with stockings out for Halloween and never wanted to take it off. I'm also in love with Bordelle Lingerie, although I haven't been lucky enough to splurge on any for myself yet. For more affordable brands: I have been enjoying stuff I've recently gotten from Foreplay, Oh La La Cheri Paris, EG Lux, and there's always something fun on Yandy (although it can be a hit or miss). Dolls Kill also has a bunch of fun stuff.
LECHERY: What is a bad experience you've had with a lingerie set? And what brands would you avoid buying from?
ASHLEY: Like I said, Yandy can be a hit or miss. Anything "One Size Fits All" can be good if it's tiny and stretchy, but sometimes ends up being too big on me.
LECHERY: What is your main advice to women who struggle with confidence and body image?
ASHLEY: To co-opt an often repeated phrase, I think it can be nice to learn to love yourself in lingerie before you worry about what others think about you in lingerie. Most of the time, whoever is seeing us naked is thrilled, it's more us, especially as women, in our own heads nit-picking all of our "flaws" and worrying if someone else sees them (hint: they don't!).
LECHERY: What do you hope to find in the lingerie industry in the future?
ASHLEY: This isn't something I can speak to personally, but I know many of my large-busted friends still have trouble finding bras that are both supportive and sexy, same for anything plus-sized. We're definitely making progress, but we have a long way to go. Personally, I also hope brands extend their sizes the other way. Some of Agent Provocateur's stuff comes in a 2 as the smallest size, and it ends up being too big for me :(
LECHERY: What is one lingerie piece that every girl should have in their closet?
ASHLEY: A pair of lacy or mesh panties that make your butt look bomb (hint: cheeky styles tend to do this the best—G-strings not so much.
LECHERY: What is one thing you would always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy?
ASHLEY: Wearing a matching bra and panty underneath my clothes makes me feel sexy all day.
LECHERY: Describe lingerie to you in three words:
ASHLEY: Feminine, sexy, never-too-much.
